Dear Fessenden-Bowdon Families,

Last March, Governor Burgum closed schools for in-person instruction due to concerns about COVID-19. He directed schools to serve their students via distance learning “until further notice.” The Governor amended his order on June 1st to allow schools to have summer school as long as it was in groups of 15 or less. We are in frequent contact with the ND Department of Public Instruction and the Governor’s Office trying to find out what schools will be allowed to do in August.

It is our hope that the guidelines we need to follow will be released by DPI and Governor Burgum by mid-July. However, we have been told by DPI that we may not receive that guidance until the end of July. Once those guidelines are released, we will share the educational plan for this fall.

We know how difficult this uncertainty is for many of you. Rest assured that as soon as we have guidance from the state, we will communicate our plan. If you have specific questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me: D’Aulan Bussman - daulan.bussman@fessenden.k12.nd.us.

I wanted to enclose some information that will help the students in your home get ready for the new school year:

- Fun way to explain how germs spread: https://www.webmd.com/lung/fea...

- Why it is important for students to be back in the classroom: https://www.webmd.com/lung/new...

Thank you for your continued patience during these unprecedented times.

Sincerely,

D’Aulan Bussman, Fessenden-Bowdon School District Superintendent
