These are great NEW resources on digital devices for teens .
Brief summary of YD1917: The widespread use of cell phones by teenagers raises the concern of the negative effects it could have on their performance in school. However, teachers can work with their students to incorporate effective cell phone use into the classroom. When used appropriately, cell phones can enhance class participation and allow students to access current information.
Brief summary of YD1918: Digital devices play an important role in the daily lives of teens. While they do offer many benefits, they can also expose teens to cyberbullying and other harmful effects that can be detrimental to a teen's health and overall development. Parents should be actively involved in their teens' lives and educate themselves about digital devices and social media so they can provide adequate support.

I am very excited to let you know that the Wells County Commissioners have picked a winner in the “I Voted” coloring contest! The winner is Madison Kost of the Fessenden-Bowdon School! Madison’s entry was picked out of all of the entry’s submitted by the 4th graders in Wells County. I will forward her entry to the State and let you know the results when I receive them, which should be in April sometime. CONGRATULATIONS AND GOOD LUCK MADISON!!!

Mrs Jones & the 4th Graders Share the True Spirit of Christmas
I wanted to share a fun project that the 4th graders have been working on. We made tie pillows in class and collected some sweet treats that the residents at the Group Home would enjoy. With the advice of Pam Hornbacher, we knew what each resident would like.
We made our deliveries to the Wells County Social Services with gift bags of just pillows. Then we delivered the extra special gifts to the residents at the Group Home. The residents we’re not there yet so she had us place each carefully wrapped package under their tree. Finally we made our way back to the school, it was a memorable fun experience for all.
The 3rd graders demonstrated patience along with their creativity while decorating their cookies! We also learned some decorating techniques for the type of icing we had made. Thank you to Miss Pifer and her students for helping us!
Oh the weather outside is frightful, but Coding is so delightful! Students loved coding this month and it is truly a delight to watch them learn to code!
Reminder that there is an Early Out on Friday, December 20th, for teachers in-service. Students will be dismissed at 12:30 PM. We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year.
3rd graders are having fun learning baking and kitchen skills with Miss Pifer’s class! They learned different measuring techniques, and safety when in the kitchen.

Christmas Week Dress Up Day ~ December 16-20 (Elementary)
The Elementary students will be going to Harvey on Thursday, December 19, for a Christmas movie and will be back in time for buses.
CONCERT INFORMATION
Dear Parents,
This is a reminder that for the Christmas concert we would like to have our students wear “festive” Christmas attire. The attire should not be casual (jeans, t-shirts, sneakers/athletic shoes, etc.), but dressy (girls - slacks, skirt, or dress, blouse or sweater; boys - slacks, button-down shirt or sweater; all - nice shoes. Christmas accessories allowed!)
Our standard black/white is also acceptable, but with some added Christmas accessories, if possible (tie, bows, earrings, etc.). If you need help with attire, please let us know!
On Monday night students should be in their places in the bleachers by 6:20 at the latest. Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades will perform at the beginning. At the end of their performance, we will dismiss them to be seated with their parents. Please do not have your child here before 6:15pm (unless they are with you), as they would be unsupervised.

Mackenzie Dietz and her dad, Kevin got the answer correct for Trivia question number 15. Dick Ertelt had a classroom next to Mrs. Rau's classroom for 16 years. Also Barb Looysen correctly answered question 14. Mrs. Rau's major for the first two years of college was medical technology.
The Fessenden-Bowdon FFA is starting the planning for our upcoming blood drive. It will be held at the school’s old gym on Tuesday, January 7 from 9-3. We will start making calls next Tuesday to find donors but if you know you want to give and have a specific time that works best for you, please don’t hesitate to go onto Vitalant.org and schedule your time. You could also call the school at 701-547-3296 ext 108 and leave a message. Don’t forget to leave a call-back number.
