FBS Week in Review!
Another great week of learning and growing at Fessenden-Bowdon! Here are a few highlights from around our school:
🧼 Healthy Habits: Wells County District Health visited our PK–3 classrooms to teach students the importance of proper handwashing and how to stop the spread of germs.
🍂 Learning Together: The Child Development class organized a fun leaf art activity with our PK students! The older students had the opportunity to practice using positive reinforcement while working with developing children.
🔨 Building Something Great: Our Construction Tech class project is starting to take shape! Stay tuned to see the finished product!
🧁 Sweet Success: FACS 1 students made mug cakes, and they turned out great!
📊 Math in Action: Our 2nd graders have been busy practicing their graphing skills!
🏐 Hornet Pride: A special thank-you to our very own Anna Monson for sharing pictures from the 8th grade volleyball game!

Tomorrow, we will be hosting both JH and HS volleyball in Fessenden beginning at 3:30pm!
Admission will be charged for the JH games at $5 for adults and $2 for students. All proceeds will go to the FB Athletics Fund to help support our student activities and athletic programs.

🌿 6th Grade Eco Ed Day!
Our 6th graders traveled to Festival Hall for Eco Ed Day last week, where they had the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities and learn more about our environment and natural resources.
A big thank you to Wells County Soil Conservation and Anne Ehni for organizing this event and providing such a fun and educational experience for our students!

Yesterday was National Teach Ag Day, and we couldn’t let it pass without recognizing our own Mr. Moellenkamp!
Fessenden-Bowdon is incredibly fortunate to have an Ag teacher and FFA advisor who works hard, invests in our students, and helps them discover opportunities and passions that can shape their futures.

Everyone is invited to the parade in Harvey at 1:00 pm and the HWC football game tonight with kickoff at 7:00 pm! Come out and show your Hornet Pride!

Our 8th grade students had an awesome day in Medora today visiting the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library! 🇺🇸
Students had the opportunity to explore history in a hands-on way, learn more about Theodore Roosevelt and his connection to North Dakota, and experience a pretty incredible new resource right here in our state.

The Fessenden-Bowdon School Board approved the following calendar changes at yesterday’s meeting:
Monday, October 5 — SCHOOL WILL BE IN SESSION
Friday, April 23 — NO SCHOOL
This will now serve as the Parent-Teacher Conference comp day.

FBS Chess Makes Its USCF Tournament Debut!
Members of the FBS Chess Team competed in their first USCF-rated tournament on Saturday, September 12, at the Capital City Quads in Bismarck! Seven students and two coaches represented FBS, competing alongside some of North Dakota’s top-ranked chess players, including the current state champion.
Our FBS players earned an impressive 12 total points! 🎉 Camdyn Laber took 1st place in his bracket, while Tucker Hoffert tied for 1st in another, finishing just half a point ahead of Jasper Opdahl. Congratulations to all of our players on a great first rated tournament!
Competing in USCF-rated tournaments gives players the opportunity to establish an official chess rating and continue challenging themselves against players from across the state.
The excitement is growing at FBS! Our full Scholastic Chess Team also kicked off practice this week with 40 students signed up—nearly double last year’s roster! ♟️
We’re excited to see our chess program continue to grow!
