Sweats for Scholars
If you see our staff wearing comfy clothes today, it’s for a great cause! 💙
Today is Sweats for Scholars, a fundraiser started by FBEA supporting the E.S. Killie Scholarship Fund. Each year, this fund provides a scholarship to a Fessenden-Bowdon graduate pursuing education after high school. Staff members who donated to the fund earned the privilege of wearing sweatpants, joggers, t-shirts, or sweatshirts today.
Thank you to everyone who contributed—your support helps our students continue their education and reach their goals! 🎓✨
Students were given Scrubs Camp t-shirts, nametags, and then were split into three groups, rotating between various sessions where they learned about radiology, CPR, blood-typing, pharmaceutical safety, physical and occupational therapy services, as well as many other topics. At the end of the event, each student went home with a swag bag, book, and water bottle!
Our students gave feedback after the event, and they stated that they enjoyed the day, and their three favorite activities were:
1. Creating an incision in a banana, stapling the wound shut, and then removing the staples.
2. Getting to see their veins under a vein visualization machine that helps with IV placement (Medical technology truly is amazing!).
3. Snack (Yogurt Parfaits provided by Wells County District Health)
Thank you to all of the area healthcare professionals who participated in the event. It is such a worthwhile day for our students!

📢 When Should Your Child Stay Home from School? 🤒
As we move through cold and flu season, we want to remind families of a few key times when students should stay home to help keep everyone healthy. Remember to wash hands, cover coughs and sneezes, and avoid touching faces.
According to the North Dakota Department of Health, children should stay home from school if they:
Have a fever of 101°F or higher (they can return once fever-free for 24 hours without medication)
Have vomited two or more times in the past 24 hours
Have diarrhea and are unable to control it or use the restroom normally
Are too sick or tired to participate in normal school activities
Have a contagious illness such as chickenpox, strep throat, or pink eye (follow your doctor’s advice for when it’s safe to return)
If you’re unsure whether your child could spread illness to others, please contact your local healthcare provider and the school office for guidance.
Thank you for helping keep our students and staff healthy! For more details, you can review the full North Dakota Department of Health guidelines here: www.health.nd.gov/diseases-conditions

Congrats, HWC Volleyball!
The HWC volleyball team picked up a big win last night against Central McLean with a final score of 3–1!

We love seeing so many families come out to cheer on our teams . Thank you for creating such great energy in the gym! As a quick reminder, students should sit with their parents or guardians during games and limit trips in and out of the gym. This helps keep everyone safe and allows all fans to enjoy the game.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us make our home games a positive experience for everyone! 💜🐝

This week, we’re launching our school-wide Kindness Kickoff through CharacterStrong’s PurposeFull People program! 🌟
Each week, our students will focus on building positive character traits—starting with Kindness. We’ll be learning what it means to act with understanding, generosity, and care, both in and out of the classroom.
Families can join in too! Check out the Family Connection letter (pictured below) for fun ways to talk about and practice kindness together at home.
Let’s make our school a place where kindness grows—one thoughtful act at a time. 💕
